Join the Board
Clinic Access Support Network is a collective of over 80 volunteers committed to providing transportation, lodging, and emotional support to people seeking abortion care in Houston, TX.
We’re currently looking for creative, hard-working folks to join our working board.
On the CASN board, you’ll find:
A direct impact on reproductive access - CASN is a local, grassroots organization. Your leadership will have an immediate, direct impact on people’s lives.
A political home - CASN’s leadership is a collaborative, supportive group of like-minded people dedicated to reproductive freedom. We value building strong bonds with each other as much as we value CASN’s cause.
Career/networking opportunities - As a board member, you’ll regularly work with donors, reproductive justice activists, politicians and amazing CASN volunteers. It’s a great way to build professional connections in the Houston community.
We’re looking for board members with the following qualities:
Collaborative - Our board follows a collective leadership model. Everyone works together (and votes!) to make the best choices for the organization. We need people who are ready to speak their mind and make compromises.
Take Charge - The best board members see a need, find a solution, and execute it independently. We need people willing to dive in and learn on their own.
Clutch - Whether it’s coordinating cross-state transportation, spending weekends at tabling events, or chasing down fundraising dollars, board members need to be clutch. We always step up to the plate to make sure the organization meets its goals.
We are committed to making sure our board reflects the diversity of the community we serve. People who have had abortions, people of color, young people, people who are parenting, LGBTQIA+ folks, and folks who live at the intersections of these and other marginalized identities are highly encouraged to apply.
We’re a working board, so applicants should expect:
Time Commitment - Board members spend an average of 10-15 hours a week working on CASN projects, but the time commitment does increase depending on the urgency of an event or project.
Overseeing Committees or Projects - Each board member oversees their own committee or project. This requires good time and work management skills, as well as a knack for managing people.
Monthly Meetings - Board members meet every month for a board meeting, as well as monthly meetings for their specific committees.
